Crestline is a medium-sized town located in the state of California. With a population of 11,650 people and four associated neighborhoods, Crestline is the 399th largest community in California.
Of important note, Crestline is also a town of artists. Crestline has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Crestline’s character.
Also of interest is that Crestline has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 27.20% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Another notable thing is that Crestline is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the town’s population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.
One downside of living in Crestline, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 33.54 minutes every day commuting to work.
As is often the case in a small town, Crestline doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
In terms of college education, Crestline is substantially better educated than the typical community in the nation, which has 21.84% of the adults holding a bachelor's degree or graduate degree: 31.31% of adults in Crestline have a college degree.
The per capita income in Crestline in 2022 was $39,818, which is middle income relative to California, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $159,272 for a family of four. However, Crestline contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
Crestline is an extremely ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Crestline home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Crestline residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Crestline also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 28.05% of the town’s residents.
