Living in Alva

Alva is a very small town located in the state of Florida. With a population of 2,725 people and two associated neighborhoods, Alva is the 352nd largest community in Florida.

Housing costs in Alva are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Florida.

Also of interest is that Alva has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 22.88% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Alva has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Alva a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

One downside of living in Alva, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 38.14 minutes every day commuting to work.

As is often the case in a small town, Alva doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

The percentage of people in Alva who are college-educated is somewhat higher than the average US community of 21.84%: 26.54% of adults in Alva have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Alva in 2022 was $40,582, which is middle income relative to Florida, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $162,328 for a family of four. However, Alva contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
