Attica is a tiny town located in the state of Michigan. With a population of 962 people and two associated neighborhoods, Attica is the 481st largest community in Michigan. Much of the housing stock in Attica was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.
Also of interest is that Attica has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 18.18% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Attica has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Attica a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.
One downside of living in Attica is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Attica, the average commute to work is 31.96 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average.
As is often the case in a small town, Attica doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
The citizens of Attica have a very low rate of college education: just 9.63% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, compared to a national average of 21.84% for all cities.
The per capita income in Attica in 2022 was $41,315, which is upper middle income relative to Michigan and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $165,260 for a family of four. However, Attica contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
Attica is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Attica home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Attica residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Attica include German, English, Polish, Dutch, and Czech.
